  • Why KOLAS ?

  • - KOLAS (Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme)
    KOLAS is the national accreditation system operated by the Korea Accreditation System under the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy of the Republic of Korea. It accredits calibration, testing, and inspection institutions to ensure they meet specific standards and possess the necessary capabilities. This accreditation is based on the “Framework Act on National Standards” and the “Act on the Management of Conformity Assessment.” KOLAS certifies calibration, testing, and inspection institutions in compliance with international standards such as ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO/IEC 17020. It also participates in the ILAC’s Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) to establish a globally recognized framework.

    - ISO/IEC 17025
    ISO/IEC 17025 is the international standard that specifies the general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories. This standard defines the requirements for the technical competence and quality management system of the institutions to ensure the reliability of their testing and calibration results.

    - Management Requirements :
    These include organizational structure, quality system, document control, contract review, subcontracting, service and supplier management, complaint handling, management of non-conforming work, corrective actions, and internal audits.

    - Technical Requirements :
    These cover personnel qualifications and training, validation of testing and calibration methods, suitability of equipment, measurement traceability, sample management, and quality assurance of testing and calibration results.

    Institutions accredited with KOLAS ISO/IEC 17025 certification possess a quality management system recognized internationally and are essential for providing reliable test reports as a testing institution. KOLAS ISO/IEC 17020
  • ISO/IEC 17020 is an international standard for the competence of inspection bodies, defining requirements to ensure the impartiality, consistency, and reliability of inspection activities.

    - Management Requirements :
    These include independence, impartiality, accountability, reliability, and handling of complaints and litigation.
    - Technical Requirements :
    These cover the technical competence of the inspection process, validity of inspection methods, suitability of equipment, measurement traceability, and quality assurance of inspection results.

    Inspection bodies accredited with KOLAS ISO/IEC 17020 certification are obligated to provide fair and reliable inspection results. Daedeok Analytical Research Institute Co., Ltd.
